The Incredible Edible Egg.

How many of you only eat the egg white part of an egg? I will admit I used to discard the egg yolk for a while. I had heard that the egg yolk was unhealthy—high in cholesterol & fat. So I thought I was doing good by eating the “healthy part” of the egg—the whites. Since I know that many people do only eat egg whites, I want to share with you the actual nutrients of the egg.  **Check out the chart at the bottom of the post! (For some reason, I wasn’t able to insert it in the middle of my post!)

To eat the yolk or not eat the yolk?

What brand of eggs do you use?

I usually buy Eggland’s Best.  You canclick here to read the nutritional differences between Eggland’s Best eggs and the typical egg.  Eggland’s Best also sells cage-free/organic eggs.  However, recently I have been reading up on the myth about cage-free eggs.  Although cage-free hens may be better off than caged hens, they apparently may still be treated very poorly.  Perhaps the best source of eggs is from a local farm…you can check to see if there are any farms near you that offer fresh eggs atLocalharvest.org and Eatwild.com.

  1. ok so i hate eggs. the smell gets me . but i always tell all my friends (who only eat the whites) that the yolk is where it’s at!!

but sadly they keep not eating it because they all say that it has too much fat in it. and then they roll their eyes when i tell them theyre really not getting much nutrition from what they’re eating. apparently not many nutrients = 100% good for you. i guess low calorie always wins?

plus i like the yellow color 🙂

  2. Eggs = natures perfect protein.

  3. Great post – I’m happy to say I eat the whole thing! 🙂
